La Luna is named as a tribute to the moon and the belief that our cycle and birth is tied to La Luna, just like the Tides in the ocean.
My name is Alicen (pronounced alison) and I wear many hats, my favourite is Mum to my 5 amazing children and my next is Midwife. I live and work on the NSW South Coast. You can usually catch me on the white sands of Jervis Bay with my husband on my days off.
I have created La Luna Tides Midwifery Services out of my strong desire to offer more to women and listening to my intuition that this is my calling.
La Luna Tides - the name came to me when I was considering what is reflective of my personal experiences with pregnancy and birth of my own children. Each was born spontaneously at night and my surges were exactly like waves at the beach. La Luna is Spanish/Italian for 'the moon' and the moon controls the Tides like some believe our own cycles.
